To State In First Year

Last year two new schools opened up in Bakersfield and started with only freshman and sophomores. Neither competed in SEYL or the SWYL so little was known about Mira Monte or Independence except that they were young and had very similar school colors. I did note that Independence had a good size squad and was coached by the long time West High coach.

Well, Independence had some individual success right off the bat with Acacia Ingram placing 5th at valley and she qualified for the state meet.
